First off, I apologise that this look is almost entirely “un-shoppable”, but if I’m being honest it’s virtually impossible for me to put together an outfit entirely made up of current season items, even when I’m shopping like a mad woman. I shop sales and consignment too much! I want my blog to be a source of inspiration; a melting pot of ideas for thrifty shopping and having fun with clothes, with some beauty and lifestyle thrown in for good measure. But for the most part (with the exception of skincare/beauty/lifestyle posts) it’s not going to be as simple as click-and-shop. I will try to make my fashion posts more shoppable where I can, but I won’t be straying from what I usually wear or buying specific items for the purpose of a post, it just doesn’t seem genuine to me.
Onto the look itself, I’m getting a bit sick and tired of big coats cramping my style (winter, you are my greatest foe), as much as outerwear can absolutely tie a look together, it can also cover up some pretty cool outfits. My solution? Layers. All of the layers. A shirt under a woolly jumper, heck you can even throw a thermal under there for good measure, is a sure fire way to forego outerwear and still remain toasty warm! I’m also loving wearing this silk Zara wrap skirt over jeans, it adds a touch of femininity without running the risk of cold legs or gale force winds exposing you in a public place, even whilst twirling, as you can see I’ve already tried.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, always have fun with what you wear! Play with proportion and texture, pair unexpected items, who says you can’t wear trousers AND a skirt?
Keep playing with layering,
Shan
